Interesting Search of the Day

What is this page all about?

Aside from the shear number of sites devoted to silly things, what impresses me most about Google is how fascinating search results sometimes come about from the most innocent of searches. I hope to file some of those Google adventures here on a daily basis. If I miss the occasional day or perhaps a week, please feel free to surf over to the National Enquirer for more quality content :)

Govemment - The other day I was using MS Word to type in the word Government into a heading... "heading 2" to be specific. By default, MS Word makes the word "Government" look almost identical to "Govemment". Try out this Google search to see how many people learn their spelling from MS Word Heading 2!

Telegram Service - Did you know you can still send an actual paper telegram?

Dinner for One (video) - "It's a bit bizarre when you think about it. A short British cabaret sketch from the 1920s has become a German New Year's tradition. Yet, although 'The 90th Birthday or Dinner for One' is a famous cult classic in Germany and several other European countries, it is virtually unknown in the English-speaking world, including Britain, its birthplace."

Nun Bun (image search) - I was just expecting Mother Theresa -- but there are apperently lots of nun buns!

July 11, 2005
Srebrenica - Next time you ponder modern terrorism and mass murder, remember that 8,000 is more than 50. Not that 50 is trivial -- but the long term impact on 20,000 to 30,000 women and children that accompanies 8,000 murders is well worth pondering.

Celine Dion - I have to admit that I've never knowingly listened to a Celine Dion song -- but she was booed by a bunch of Ontarions. So that's gotta generate some content, right?
July 04, 2005
Africa Poverty - With all the "let's make poverty history, etc." stuff in the news lately, I thought I would try it out on Google.
June 28, 2005
Toothpaste for Dinner - When you see how many people already know about Toothpaste for Dinner, you'll feel like a schlump.
June 27, 2005
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo - Lots of fascinating discussions.

British Slang - Apparently this is a hot topic.
June 23, 2005
www - Two cool things about this search: the shear number of results (around 2,990,000,000), and the top 10 results: does this indicate the "top" sites on the whole web?
June 22, 2005
The - I didn't even know you could search for "the"! There were, "about 3,220,000,000" results.
